SOPHIE BASS

Sophie Bass, a graduate from Falmouth University, is an illustrator based in the southwest. Her work focuses primarily on the nature of human beings including birth, sex, death and our sensual relationship with the natural world.  Her work is also concerned with  the universe, music, masquerade, chaos, dreams and nightmares. 

She is influenced by the art and stories of many different cultures, for example Indian miniature paintings, ancient Egyptian art and Greek myths.  She seeks to produce highly decorative work which is also layered with meaning.

She works in mixed media (mainly using gouache, watercolour and collage) to create imaginative and exciting pieces that each tell a story.  As well as narrative work, her practice incorporates promotional material, particularly for music, film and theatre.
